There comes a point in the year when even the MICE sector, yes, the ones where everything revolves around briefings, timings, floor plans, coffee breaks and last-minute changes, needs to pause for a moment, take in the sun and remember that it’s also important to return with more energy.
With this spirit, we welcomed the summer on 18 June with a little prelude to the celebrations for the eve of Sant Joan at the EMA Summer Party, organised by the Event Managers Association Spain, the Sitges Convention Bureau and the Catalunya Convention Bureau.
Nearly 60 MICE professional shared an afternoon of networking, conversation, projects, creativity, songs and pleasant moments in a relaxed atmosphere. This was one of those gatherings that remind us that the best professional connections are not always forged in a meeting room: sometimes they come about when we combine work, trust, complicity and an eagerness to connect with “Amigos para siempre” (Friends for Life).
With the arrival of the summer, when daylight hours are at their longest and we take time to reflect before resetting the calendar ready for the return to our full routine, it’s also a good moment to talk about pausing. Not complete disconnection, we know that’s practically science-fiction in the MICE sector, but about the summer break needed to get more perspective, let ideas evolve and prepare the challenges of the coming season better.
Here at the Sitges CB, we particularly want to thank the EMA for having put their trust in us, Finca Mas Solers for their participation and support, and Humanside for their part in making this a memorable experience.
Because sometimes the best way to get ready for the future is to get together, talk and celebrate how you got here.
We’ll see each other again after the solar eclipse in August, if not before, if the briefing says so, with new ideas, new projects and our sights on three very important MICE ideas: identity, leadership and self-expression. Because the events that leave their mark also explain who we are, what we’re about and how we want to connect. And here, Sitges still has its own light.
Have a great summer and a great MICE summer break!
